Gujarat swimmers shine in National School Games

Gujarat swimmers are shining bright at the on-going 62nd National School Games Swimming held in Rajkot. Led by India's top woman swimmer Maana Patel, the hosts' swimmers came out with a golden swim in the meet.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat swimmers are shining bright at the on-going 62nd National School Games Swimming held in Rajkot. Led by India's top woman swimmer Maana Patel, the hosts' swimmers came out with a golden swim in the meet.
Maana clocked 2 minutes 27.62 seconds to win the under-19 girls' 200m backstroke. Yuga Birnale of Maharashtra clocked 2m 31.38s for the silver while statemate Trishna Karkhanis clocked 2m 34.55s to pick the bronze.
Maana's second gold of the day came in the 50m freestyle where she clocked 27.67s to win the crown.

Maharashtra's Sadhvi Dhuri clocked 28.53s to take the second place while Tamil Nadu's A Kaavya Shri clocked 25.49s for the third place finish.
Meanwhile, Kalyani Saxena clocked 5m 34.15s to win the under-19 girls' 400m individual medley. Shiven Brahmbhatt too sizzled in the pool as the youngster won the under-17 boys 50m freestyle with 25.80s.
On Monday, Silky Nagpure captured silver medal in the girls U-17 100m breaststroke event. She clocked 1.22.76. Another medal came the host's way when Kalyani Saxena timed 1.21.43 to grab the silver in the girls U-19 100m breaststroke. Gujarat won two more medals in the team event. A gold was won in the U-17 4x100 medley relay team which comprised Rashi Patel, Niyati Shah, Dolphi Sarang and Silky Nagpure.
The U-19 4x100 medley relay girls' team of Maana Patel, Kalyani Saxena Aastha Thakar and Dilpreet Kaur won the bronze.
Earlier on Saturday, Aryan Nehra clocked 4m 38.76s to take the third place in under-14 boys' 400m freestyle. Dolphi Sarang also had to settle for the bronze in under-17 girls' 100m butterfly.
